Weekending in Park City

Well hello Monday and hello Miss Southern readers. After apologizing and half promising to be better about posting just two weeks ago...I didn't write a single post last week. Oops! So this week I will try to do better, but no promises. Pssh, I know you guys are just sitting on the edge of your seats waiting for a blog post from me!

Last Thursday afternoon I landed in Salt Lake City, Utah just for a few short hours of having lunch and shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale before we headed to Park City. Pause, can I just say one thing about the sale because I'm sure all you fellow bloggers are SICK of hearing about the NSale like me but but ahhh! We don't have a Nordstrom in Oklahoma so I have been diligently checking the website to see if the last three items I had in my wish list got restocked. After several orders being cancelled of these items because they weren't really in stock I was so excited to try to snag them in store. Welp, flop. Big fat flop! I don't really need the Steve Madden Claara block heels do I? Hope not because I didn't land them this sale and I still might be a little bitter. No Nordstrom you don't win, I'm still not getting a credit card to shop early next year! Ok, rant over.

Like I was saying, Thursday evening we headed to Park City and checked into, not exaggerating, the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. Lucky for me this was the third summer I've stayed at the Montage Deer Valley. I was technically in town for business but knew I would make the best of it. The hotel has a nightly smores and hot cocoa bar that is truly amazing, and Thursday night my boss and I stopped by. Since I'm trying to watch what I eat before our trip to Mexico next month, I resisted. However, I only was able to hold out on Thursday  night, Friday night I gave in and it was the best smores ever! I plan to write a whole post reviewing the Montage later this week, stay tuned and then go stay there, you will LOVE it! 

Friday morning I woke up and got in a quick workout before I had a couple of meetings and email answering to do before a day of exploring Park City. After I was finished working I met by boss for lunch and some shopping. I love strolling downtown PC, Main Street is filled with lots of patio dinning, shopping and sightseeing. Oh and did I mention it was 70 degrees! It was so amazing as we are in the triple digits back here in Oklahoma.

Saturday was mostly spent working, but I couldn't complain because the view was to die for from the boardroom. Saturday afternoon the cyclists riding in Tour of Utah came right by the hotel and I was able to see them fly by! The tour is made up of 150 bikers that peddle their way across Utah in seven days. Each day they ride 101 miles and they close off sections of the mountains as the ride through. It was very interesting to see and learn about. Just a note, if you ever see them and they throw their water bottle out to spectators, this is on purpose. I saw one guy "lose" his bottle and I felt so bad until I was informed it's on purpose. I was waving as one rider rode past only to realize he was waving at his friends behind me...I was definitely a amateur of the Tour of Utah but that's ok, I enjoyed it!

Saturday afternoon we had a few hours in-between the meeting and a dinner meeting and what better way to spend those hours than hiking! I love taking advantage of the trails and beautiful scenery when I'm in town. My boss and I hiked for a couple of hours and experienced some breathtaking views.

 

Early Sunday morning I flew back home to one hundred degree heat, see you next month Park City!

Life Lately

Hello y'all, believe it or not I am alive just haven't been around this little space of mine. I could give a million reasons why I haven't posted but in short I'm just not motivated. I haven't felt like sharing, being creative or even like I've had enough energy to login. BUT I miss this space and I miss y'all so I'm working on being back more!

Here is a little of what has been going on in my world lately...lots of travel for sure. But lots of great times as well as some down times. Right after my last post, mid-July, I went to Sun Valley, Idaho. I stayed at the Sun Valley resort for the weekend and had an amazing time. Spent some time shopping and just relaxing at the resort. Unfortunately I backed up my phone recently and cleaned out all of my pictures without thinking I haven't shared any on here. So, I was treated to a wonderful dinner and a ticket to see an Olympic style ice skating show at the resort one evening but I sadly don't have any of those pictures to post. Here are a few of the trip.

The very next weekend I was back on another plane to Park City, Utah. I was fortunate enough to stay at the Montage at Deer Valley resort. It was hands down the best experience I've had at a resort in a long time. I didn't want to leave. I was treated as VIP or a celebrity the entire time and not to mention the views were very spectacular. I will share more on this stay soon. I was there for a board retreat but had a little down time to hike. After reading that the hike to Blood Lake from Dashing Darling was a great hike I had to go. I spent a couple hours hiking to the lake and just relaxing while I took in all the views. How awesome is our God to create such a beautiful world. Here is a few snaps from my trip to Park City.

 

Last weekend I spent part of the weekend in Oklahoma City for work and part of it celebrating, late, my sister-in-law's birthday. Since I clearly don't have my life together I didn't take any pictures of this.

I recently received a new necklace from Trust Without Borders and I love it! "She knew she could be brave because she was his." Inspired from Isaiah 43:5. Y'all check them out on Instagram if you get a chance. I posted about them here too but I love their purpose. For every purchase made they donate a necklace to a cancer patient. How awesome is that?!

Lastly, my new favorite addiction...fresh mint raspberry lemonade. I'm growing keeping fresh mint alive sort of on my patio and its been great to add to any and everything. Throw in a few leafs into your lemonade and you'll thank me.

I hope y'all are surviving the rest of summer...if you are in scorching temperatures like me here in Oklahoma. Dare do I even say I'm almost ready for fall?

 
 

Park City, I love you.

I am fortunate that my job allows me to see different parts of the country that I may not experience if I didn’t have my boss sending me.

Last Thursday I escaped Oklahoma’s steaming summer temperatures to beautiful seventy degree temps in Park City, Utah. I’ve been to Salt Lake City a couple times but never Park City. Let me just say, it was nothing short of amazing.

 

A lot of the time I don’t have the opportunity to really see a lot of the cities I visit due to my purpose of being there, work. However, with this trip it was all quite different. Honestly it was more like a vacation than actual work.

We flew in on Thursday afternoon and left on Sunday afternoon with only an eight hour meeting and one work dinner to attend during the entire time we were there.  I knew this trip was going to be a bit different than my normal work meetings since this time I was hosting a board retreat for a group of Utah oncology doctors at one of the top resorts in Park City.

We stayed at the Montage Deer Valley Resort and I was swept away to my “apartment” for the weekend to enjoy a breath taking view. I mean seriously, this was all mine for the weekend.

 

 

We spent most of Friday having lunch and shopping in the shops in downtown Park City on Main Street. We ate most of our meals on patios while there, it was perfect. Friday afternoon we had planned to ride the Alpine Slide but a sudden afternoon shower had other plans for us. My boss and I spent the afternoon at the outlet mall where I scored a cute bikini top for the Fourth of July next year and some adorable navy and white seersucker scalloped bottom pajama shorts that are screaming to be monogramed.  I also {FINALLY} got to visit World Market! I read about girl’s finding the greatest things there on their blogs and I was beginning to become very jealous. It was a success with the purchase of some “southern pecan pancake mix” and I will definitely return when I have the chance until one finally makes its way to Oklahoma.

 

That evening we ventured to the Alpine slide once again after dinner and it was the perfect evening for it! I had never heard of the slide until I read Lot 48’s post about her family’s experience a few weeks ago. After reading about it I KNEW I HAD to try it!

 

You take the ski lift up the mountain where you are given these yellow carts to carry over to the slide. You sit in your own cart and push the little red handle forward to go as fast as you’d like down the mountain. It reminded me of what I feel like bobsledding would be like. The slide is over 3,000 feet long and truly gives you the most amazing view as you’re flying down the mountain on this little plastic cart.

 

 

I’ll admit, I stopped almost completely a few times to take pics. I had to document it! If you ever have the chance to ride an alpine slide, do it!

Each night we ended the day enjoying the hot chocolate and s'mores bar around the fire pit at the resort. Then I slipped into an amazing bath, showered, wrapped myself in the plush robe left for me, flipped on the fireplace in my bedroom and relaxed. This was my nightly routine for three nights in a row, this was life.

 

 

I will be back in Park City at the end of September and to say that I cannot wait is an understatement. Usually when I'm near the end of my work trips I am anxious to get home. Not this trip, I was not ready to trade seventy degrees for a hundred and two back here at home.
