#Superfunweekend Recap

It's Monday, make it a good day everyone! I had a great weekend filled with lots of great times and memories.
Friday evening I ran to the mall to pick up a new shirt for the OU game on Saturday. I have this really, really, bad habit of thinking I need to buy a new outfit or at least a shirt for every home gameday. This weekend was no different and I picked up a cute white shirt to go with my red pants for the game. After the mall I met a friend to check out the new West Elm that just opened up. I swooned over the gold rimmed wine glasses and then we enjoyed dinner and drinks. It was a nice cool but not too breezy evening to sit on the patio. We had a couple of festive beers and a great chat and called it an evening.

Kyle was out of town this weekend and since I had to wake up pretty early for the game Saturday morning I enjoyed sliding into my sheets pretty soon after I got home from dinner.

Saturday morning as the sun rose a friend and I headed to Norman for the OU/KState game. Game days are so fun but they are especially fun with great company. I love taking friends and family with me that really appreciate getting to go, it makes the games even that more fun for me.

It was great day except for the loss. OU fell to KState by one point and lets just say, as an OU fan we just are not used to losing. We don't handle a loss well but we finished off the day with some retail therapy and dinner then headed back home.

Sunday after church I ran a few errands and started cleaning up my dead summer flower pots and replaced them with beautiful mums. My nephews were in town so I got to snuggle my six day old nephew Cyrus a little that afternoon.

My other nephew Trey and niece Jada both celebrated their birthdays yesterday with a party. Since I was at the game I missed the fun time. Trey turned fifteen and Jada nine. I went to visit and take them their birthday gifts Sunday evening. Absolutely horrible picture of me but Trey is still in the stage where he is a little too cool for pics with his aunt so I had to take what I could get. Jada on the other hand, LOVED her new monogramed shorts I got her so she was super proud and ready for the pic! Happy birthday Trey and Jada, I love you guys!

Kyle's cousin Jonathan just recently got married and him and his new wife stopped by Sunday evening. Kyle grilled us all burgers while we got to know Tara since this was the first time we were able to meet her.
All in all it was a great weekend and I'm ready to face this jam packed week. I hope you guys have a great week!

It's Friday Y'all...My Faves!

Good news everyone, we all made it to Friday!! Today is going to be short and sweet cause I have a billion things to get done today but I still wanted to link up to share with you my favorites this week. Lets get to it!

ONE:: Hey Y'all Mug

{Mug found here}

Part of the giveaway from last week's Five on Friday linkup was this adorable coffee mug. I just knew I was going to be the winner but was sadly disappointed this morning to find out I wasn't, like a lot of you haha but I've still had my eye on this cup. I don't drink coffee but I think I might rock it with some hot chocolate.

TWO:: Cyrus Tyler

If you guys missed my announcement post the other day, here, my nephew Cyrus Tyler was born happy and healthy Monday morning. We are still so smitten and I can't wait for them to be in town this weekend so I can snuggle him some more! He melts my heart into a giant puddle!

THREE:: Pumpkin Spice Dip

I posted about this also earlier in the week but I think it deserves a spot in my five faves also because it is just THAT yummy! Pumpkin Spice Dip that you will not want to miss out on, my new fall favorite treat! You can find the recipe here in this post. Also found on my Pinterest.

FOUR:: These Boys

These three precious boys belong to my best friend of 26 years, Megan. I have been so blessed to be a part of all of their lives and watch them grow up just like I did their mom along side of me! After living a couple hours away from all of them for years I now work just a few minutes from their house and I'm able to stop by all the time to see these babies! I love you guys Skylar, Kohen and Beckham!

FIVE:: Aztec Poncho

{Poncho Found Here}

After seeing this fringe Aztec poncho on Southern Curls & Pearls post this morning I haven't stopped thinking about it. I'm not exactly sure if I could pull it off but I definitely love the idea of it. How comfortable does it look and I'm already picturing incorporating it into different outfits. Best part, its Nordstrom's and only $38!! Practically a steal and I just think it might make its way to my "cart" this afternoon. What do you think? Think I can pull it off guys?

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, I know I have lots of fun things planned!

Workout Playlist

I've needed a little extra boost to get going with my workouts lately so I decided to switch up my playlist. Getting motivated to go to the gym can be freaking difficult. Before I just set my Pandora to the Katy Perry station or the 2000s Hip Hop Radio station but I was getting burnt out. I'm the kind of girl that can definitely workout without music but I will workout for half the amount of time without it. So, I switched it up and I've made more of a custom playlist to kick up my gym sessions.

I like to set obtainable goals for myself such as "Ready, Set Go- scissor tail crunches until this song is over!" with a hot song on this makes that crunch session go much faster and seem easier. Here are a few of my top picks that made my list. I know these are all very popular songs right now but they are really good "get your booty going" ones.
Songs on this high energy list include:

Ariana Grande, Jessie J and Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang
Taylor Swift - Shake It Off
Iggy Azalea - Black Widow
Sia - Chandelier
Ariana Grande - Break Free
All About That Bass - Meghan Trainor
Avicii - Wake Me Up
OneRepublic - Love Runs Out
Katy Perry - Roar
Miley Cyrus - Adore You
Eminem - Till I Collapse
Lolly with Juicy J & Justin Bieber - Maejor Ali
Nicki Minaj - Anaconda
Iggy Azalea - Fancy

All of these songs are high energy that are great at naturally getting me to pick up the pace. I have been trying to pick songs that are almost impossible to sit still to. This has seemed to be helping me pick it up at the gym lately. When I want to cool down I just turn on a country station on Pandora usually.

What are some of your tips that help you keep you motivated with your workouts and what does your current playlist sound like?

Pumpkin Spice Dip

I have a new favorite fall treat this year, pumpkin spice dip. Oh my word, it is delicious and a must try! I got the recipe from Christina from North Carolina Charm after she said it was one one we'd definitely want to try out and she was not kidding! Y'all, it is THAT good.

I made this for our girl's night last weekend and it was a huge hit! I served mine with graham crackers, ginger snaps and vanilla wafers. The recipe makes a large bowl full so I've been snacking on it this week with apple slices.

Ingredients

Pumpkin Spice Dip

Ingredients:
1- 15 oz can of pumpkin
1- 5 oz box of instant vanilla pudding {just the powder, don't make the pudding}
1- 16 oz container of cool whip  {low fat can be used}
1- Small pumpkin
1/2 tbl Pumpkin Pie Spice
1/2 tbl Cinnamon

Directions:
Mix pumpkin, pudding mix, cool whip, and pumpkin pie spice together {by hand} in a very large bowl. Chill for several hours before serving. Meanwhile, carve your pumpkin! Sprinkle with cinnamon, and serve with fresh apples slices, vanilla wafers, graham crackers or ginger snaps.

A word of advice, do not try and serve your dip in a "pumpkin pie pumpkin". I, of course, waited until the last minute to run and get my pumpkin and the store was out of all small pumpkins besides the pie ones. I, not knowing, just thought the only difference must be that they weren't near as pretty as regular pumpkins. I got it home and twenty minutes before our party was trying to cut the top to make my "bowl" and it was VERY hard. I had to ask Kyle to come in and take over and he was literally sawing it open. He knew I would've been let down if my dip wasn't presented cutely, thanks dear!

Trust me and go ahead and whip yourself some up, you won't regret it. I'm thinking I will make a batch to fill small mason jars full to give has "Happy Fall" treats for family and friends. And maybe another batch to just keep in my fridge all season...don't judge me. Happy Fall y'all, enjoy!

Announcing Cyrus Tyler

Yesterday God brought another little precious angel into this world. Kyle and I's second nephew on his side was born yesterday morning at 11:07 AM. Cyrus Tyler was a week late making his appearance and weighed 8lbs 14oz and 21 inches long. His brother Brecken, 17 months now, was two weeks late and weighed exactly one pound more so they were pretty close.

I took off a little early yesterday afternoon and Kyle and I headed down to the hospital to meet precious Cyrus.  They live about an hour and a half away so it was a nice little evening visit to Edmond.

My best friend Melissa lives about ten minutes from the hospital and is also really good friends with Randi my sister in law so it was great that she could come up as well.

I'm sorry for the picture overload but lets be honest, he is just too precious not to share all the cuteness with y'all. Brecken, Cyrus's big brother, really could care less right now but he has no idea what is about to hit him. He kind of just waves his hands around Cyrus and that's the extent of his attention for him haha We'll see how that changes when they all go home in tow together!

We are all very much in love and so blessed that he is healthy and happy. Mom, dad and baby are all doing very well and expected to go home later today.

Cyrus, Aunt Kristen and Uncle Kyle are so proud to be your aunt and uncle and could not be happier that you are here, healthy and as precious as ever. We are excited that we were able to meet you so soon after you entered the world and are even more excited to create lots of wonderful memories with you. Happy Zero Birthday, we love you!

Weekend Recap

My weekend was almost perfect. Being I have not been home and not working on a weekend in some time I knew that this weekend would be wonderful and fast and that is exactly what it was.
Friday evening I ran some errands and then Kyle and I went to a late movie and saw Gone Girl. I've heard so many people talk about how the book was good and the movie was as well that it made me want to see it. I haven't read the book but I did the think the movie was good as well. A little weird at the end but good. Those of you that have read the book and seen the movie how did you think it compared?

Saturday morning I slept in a little and wlecomed the crisp cool fall weather while lounging around for a bit. I stayed in my yoga pants, made very yummy pecan pancakes and watched the OU/Texas game. BOOMER SOONER!!!!!

Back to the pancakes...I bought this Southern Pecan mix at World Market while I was in Utah last month and my word, so good! I highly suggest my non-Oklahoma friends pick some up to try! (We don't have a World Market in Oklahoma.) I just toasted some pecan pieces to add to mine and mmm they were worth every calorie.

After the football game I whipped up some A-mazing pumpkin dip to take to girl's night Saturday evening. I will be sharing this recipe soon and you will definitely want to try it!
Us girl's got together at my friend Charity's house with all of our yummy snacks. There are eight of us in the group and all but myself and one other friend have kids so this month it was a kids welcomed night. Which I totally didn't mind cause it also meant extra cuddle time with Beckham. This is my friend Megan's baby that is a month old now.

Afterwards Kyle and I went to a local pub for a couple of drinks. I had my first apple cider cocktail of the season, I couldn't help myself!
Sunday turned into an unexpected beauty day after church which was pretty great! Ulta was having an Ulta Thon and you could get a hair cut for ten dollars as well as facials for ten dollars. Umm, sign me up!!! I put together a roast, which turned out so good and I'll share that recipe too soon, then headed straight to Ulta. My hair turned out a little shorter than what I wanted but it probably needed it and the facial was amazing!
I ended the weekend with baking a cake for my boss's birthday...which my husband thought I was super wife when he came home to a roast dinner and a cake on the counter. Oops, don't touch it!

How was your weekend?

Eeeek, FRIDAY!!! Showing Off My Faves!

Y’all, I am so excited for this weekend! I have not been just at home without traveling, working or in Norman for a football game since I don’t know when. I couldn’t be more excited to just relax at home with just a few plans.  We are supposed to have very fall like weather here in Oklahoma for the weekend so that makes me even more excited. It has been downright hot here this week, please leave already summer temps!
I’m linking up with the girls for a fun giveaway they are doing today for Five on Friday this morning. If you want to join the linkup visit Darci, April, Christina or Natasha!

Here are my five favorites for this week!

ONE:: Cow Canvas

I pinned this canvas on my Pinterest last year sometime and knew that I was totally in love with it but I have nowhere to currently put it. I have this very detailed designed office/primping/workout room in my head that I wish to have some day. In this room this darling cow would be perfect. Anyway, at the price it was marked and not having this dreamed up room I just pinned it and went on. Well, two weeks ago I was strolling through Hobby Lobby and came across one that looked very similar and for half the price! I swooned over it, took a pic, texted it to friends and Kyle for opinions but ended up leaving it on the shelf. Again, I still loved the original and still have nowhere to hang it. Then, Saturday evening Kyle and I were walking through the Fort Worth Stock Yards and there she was hanging in a window of a western store! Kyle spotted her and I let out a little squeal and headed in expecting it to be way overpriced, still nowhere to put her and leaving disappointed. Again.  The lady kindly handed me the painting and shockingly…only $35!!! My heart skipped a beat and I purchased “Razz Bell” right then. She now is leaning against the wall in our dining room waiting to be hung……..where, is still the question but I have her!

TWO:: Fresh Flowers

What girl doesn’t love fresh flowers in their house? Such an easy and inexpensive way to bring cheer to your home. I love nothing more than a clean house, candles lit and fresh flowers in a vase on display. I picked these up at a local grocery store a couple days ago and I love how much they scream fall!

THREE::  Oh Kate Spade Bag

I’ve been on the lookout for a new Kate Spade bag for a few months now. I originally wanted a cognac colored one but couldn’t seem to find one that I just loved. I spotted this one while shopping in Dallas weekend, it was perfect and this baby came home with me!

FOUR:: Zara Tartan Scarf

 Provided by Google

I’m so mad at myself for not buying this last year at the end of the season when so many girls blogged about how it was miracle that it was on sale! Now, it is not on sale and I can’t hardly find it and I want it!! Ladies, who knows where I can get this for a reasonable price?

FIVE::  Crash the Chatterbox

I’ve been looking for a good devotional after finishing mine a couple weeks ago. A friend suggested I look for one by Steven Furtick so I did and I have really enjoyed it so far. It is a short seven day devotional on YouVersion that is all about squashing the insecure thoughts and feelings you have in your own mind that are holding you back. It is part of his book "Crash the Chatterbox" that I now want to read to follow up the devotional plan. If you are looking for one to begin, check it out!
