Confession Talk

Everyone needs a little confession talk from time to time... a chance to air out your laundry, say things that are on your mind, and speak the truth! Here goes nothing, and try not to judge!

1|| I confess that I have realized that maybe I'm not strong enough to have kids. Emotionally. Maybe I was created to just care too hard about things and never have kids. Which leads me to my next confession...

2|| I confess that I cried this morning when I dropped my puppy Haddock off at the vet to get neutered and microchipped. I did hold off until I was in the car but yep, I sat in the parking lot and cried for a minute or two before I pulled off to go to work. Update: Haddock is out of surgery now and made it just fine. I'm just counting down the hours until he is cleared to be picked up...just in case you were worried! Ha

3|| I confess I can. not. stand. turnpikes!! Here in Oklahoma, last I heard, we were second in the nation for the most turnpikes. Recently they hiked our toll to more than double at the on ramp closest to my house. Making it $3.20 a DAY for me to go to work. Oh hells no! If you know me, you know I am super competitive. Game on Turnpike Authority! I am now proud to say I've challenged myself and found new routes daily and have not paid them a dime of my money in eight days! Boom, I win!

4|| I confess I've been doing so well with my fitness and eating healthy since November 1st. This morning I had a donut for the first time in as long as I can remember because dangit, it was a hard morning y'all! Update: my stomach was pissed!

5|| I confess that I LOVE going to bed with wet hair. There’s nothing like crawling into bed after a crazy day with freshly clean, wet hair. I love how cooling it is in the summer, and how you get to fall asleep with that heavenly shampoo smell!

6|| I confess going along with number five that I have never used dry shampoo until about a month ago. I've now used it three times and I'm really trying to not wash my hair so much. I typically shower twice a day so this was a lot of washing. It is a big challenging for me but I'm giving it a try...at least every once in awhile.

7|| I confess that I truthfully don't know if I know exactly what it looks like to trust God. There have been a few times in my life that I HAD to trust God with things whether I wanted to or not...but looking back at even those times...I don't think I have ever fully given up something to Him and wholeheartedly put ALL my trust in Him. I feel like I've always tried to hold on to just a little bit of
control. Something I'm VERY much working on in my life right now.

8|| I confess that great conversation is super sexy!

9|| I confess that I am completely loving the new velvet trend! It took me a hot two days to get on board and I'm in, full force! Something about velvet just says 'class' to me. Planning a post soon with the new velvet booties I just got in the mail to carry me into spring this week.

10|| I confess that I am my own worst critic. I set the bar WAY too high for myself in most things and I'm not quite sure what my definition of "success" really looks like. I'm terrified of failure and it scares me so much.

Haddock's Birthday - He's ONE!

Yesterday was my fur baby Haddock's birthday, he turned ONE! He enjoyed all his favorite things; a walk to the pond, endless game of fetch, many treats and a big treat of his own birthday pupcake! He even took his new birthday slice of cake toy with us to bed last night, birthday success! You never know there is a piece of your heart missing until it is filled with the love of a pup. Can't imagine my life without this little fur ball! Happy Birthday, Had!

Friday Favorites: Spring Fever

We are officially 9 days away from Daylight Savings Time and 17 days away from Spring! It is safe to say everything I have my eyes on or in my shopping cart is screaming spring! I have rounded up my top five favorites this week and they are all so fun!

1:  Kate Spade Lemon Tumbler...because how cute is this?! I think it would be the perfect tumbler to use this spring and summer. Plus I have the perfect skirt to match so I basically have to buy it, right? Going into my cart now!

2:  Velvet Booties...I know these are somewhat of a stretch but I am completely in love! This pair from Target is a dupe for a Steve Madden pair that are $85. These cuties are much cheaper! It hasn't taken me long at all to get on board with the velvet trend this year. To me velvet just says class. I think these booties would be great to carry into spring. How about you, are you loving or hating the velvet trend?

3:  Brunch Hat...I have been CRAVING this great brunch spot here in Tulsa for a few months now. They have biscuits and gravy that are to DIE for so when I spotted this hat my mouth immediately started watering thinking about it! But really though, how cute is this hat to throw on over that day two hair and grab a mimosa with the girls!

4:  Clinique Crayola Lip Balms...How fun  is this collaboration between Clinique and Crayola?! These moisturizing colored lip balms by Clinique are perfect. I feel like I need to fill a whole crayon box full for my purse, so cute!

5:  Picnic Blanket...I have my picnic basket and blanket already ready for the season but once I saw this cute picnic throw from Target I've been thinking maybe I need two picnic blankets...I mean there might be a weekend I have two in a row and one is already dirty. I will surely need a backup...wait I already have two. Hmm the heck with it, I still want it! Who loves picnics too?!

Wish me luck this weekend as all of this might be coming to my doorstep or to my target buggy! What spring favorites are you loving, please share! Happy weekend, y'all!

Divine Direction 3 - Trust the Process

If you haven't been around my little space here for a few weeks I have been recapping a sermon series we are studying at Life.Church, Divine Direction. You can read post one Power to Become here and last week's post, Wisdom to Discern here.

This week we covered how to trust the process while God is telling you who to become and while you follow that process and have the wisdom to discern while in the process. All leading back to if you have been asking God what you should do in life...he will tell you. Trust the process.
Divine Direction - 3
Trust the Process
Sometimes you have to do things today that you don't want to do to prepare you for something tomorrow.
"And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. 23 I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. 24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace." Acts 20:22-24

When God, the Spirit, is prompting you, pay attention! These moments of prompting and following the prompt is also know as abide. Are you paying attention?

"And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem..." Acts 20:22

Have you ever had a moment that you felt God calling you to do something you just did not want to do but you knew it was what God was prompting you to do? It is so hard to fight our own urges and follow his lead but it is always so worth it! I know in my personal experiences when I try to ignore these promptings life just seems so much harder!
Trust those nudges because certain is uncertainty. If you're not living with a little uncertainty, you're not living with faith. Trust those steps he is showing us and if we take them then God will continue to show us our next steps.
"I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there." Acts 20:22

"Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path." Psalm 119:105

He won't show us our next steps until we obey the previous steps he gave us. If you aren't ready to obey God you aren't ready to be used by the prompting of God. Man, how hard is that to hear?! Because often times it is not easy to obey but to be called out and to be told we aren't ready, that is tough. We have to trust God's process for us. Predictable resistance.

"I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me." Acts 20:23

Our prayer should be our plan is not so much about the future, my plan is to be obedient today. Stop thinking so much about the future and focus on TODAY. Be obedient today and our future will be taken care of. God will never leave you or forsake you.
"However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying the good news of God's grace."  Acts 20:24
By doing the things we don't want to do today it is only preparing us for someday when we'll do even more than we want to do! It's not about you or I it is only about Jesus. It's not about making a name it's only about Jesus.
Are you following the nudges that God is giving you?
View the complete sermon on Trusting the Process here. Also as I have mentioned in the previous series posts I am reading Craig Groeschel's book, Divine Direction which you can purchase here if you are interested. I am also doing the YouVersion Bible devotional Divine Direction and would love to study it with you!
