His Extravagant Love

A couple weeks ago we had guest speaker at church, Judah Smith that spoke in great depth to me. Judah did a two week sermon series over Love {Agape} and more importantly not just love but God's love. God's love for us is faithful, constant, extravagant and now.

It is hard for me to grasp that I can be so selfish and put my love for the most ridiculous things before God sometimes and yet he loves me in the most ridiculous form. I often find myself thinking If I only had more time to do this, I'd love it more. If I only had my tint on my car window fixed, I'd love it more. If only I lived here, I'd love it more... If only..if only...I'd love more. How can I be so completely selfish? I have a great car that in all honesty I do love. I do make time in my days to do things I love. I have more than enough stuff and material things in my life and yet I long to have more to selfishly love. I've been obsessing over my love for earthly things and feelings and realize I have it all out of order. No matter what mistakes or how selfish I can be, God's love for me is far greater than any love I can feel.

God's love for us...it's like a waterfall...it's not dead and it's unconditional. No matter what we selfishly do and put before God he loves us in the present and everlasting and not based on our performance. We may try to push him and his love away in times but his love is now and is available. I fall short but God is always there to pick my unworthy selfish self back up time and time again.

"Lean into his love and let yourself just live." - Judah Smith

"We love because he first loved us." 1 John 4:19

Not one person is an exception of God's love. God has agape for every human that has walked the earth. He hasn't stopped loving us and he won't. His love is ridiculous and extensive. He is obsessed with us and what more could we possibly need or want? His love never fails and that in itself is truly amazing and comforting but yet I do not deserve it.

"Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said "I will never leave you nor forsake you." Hebrews 13:5

I'm in Park City, Utah until Sunday and this was my amazing view this morning while I wrote this.
